Based on the importance of cold box safe operation in air separation units, the paper compares the different cold box manufacturing and control logic designs of two air separation units. Through the cause analysis and accident handling of two air separation cold box failures, the importance of cold box safe operation is pointed out. Comparing the cold box base temperature control method and the sealing control logic, the optimized and improved safety prevention and control measures are described, which enhance the safety of cold box operation in air separation units.
