Radiotherapy is one of the main treatment for esophageal cancer. With the development of radiotherapy techniques, prognostic outcomes of esophageal cancer have been gradually improved and radiation-induced heart disease (RIHD) has captivated increasing attention. Radiation-induced heart complications mainly encompass pericardial disease, cardiomyopathy, coronary artery atherosclerosis, valvular heart disease, and arrhythmias, etc. The use of modern radiotherapy techniques is expected to mitigate heart injury and reduce the risk of RIHD.
