中文语境中的历史论述常将奥姆斯特德作为波士顿公园体系营造的支配性角色,通过对波士顿公园体系的概念缘起进行考察,尝试突破以奥姆斯特德为中心的历史论述。借助城市形态学研究中的空间演变视角对19世纪波士顿的历史地图进行整合与研究,展现波士顿公园体系在百年间的空间形态演变。在此基础上,从波士顿的文化政治、地理地质及卫生改革三方面对这些空间形态演变作出相应的历史阐释,以推动空间营造与其时社会语境之间的相互关联进行理解。
F. L. Olmsted is often regarded as the dominant role in the construction of Boston Park System, especially in Chinese literature. This paper traces the original concepts of the park system and tried to break through the historical discourses which dominated by Olmsted. With the perspective of urban morphology, historical maps are integrated to illustrate the morphological transformation of Boston Park System during the 19th century. Based on such illustrations, cultural and political issues, geological issues and sanitary reform are concluded as main reasons for the transformations, thus to build up the relationship between space construction and its context.
