p - chlorobenzaldehyde has been synthesized through the redox reaction of sodium polysulfide and p - nitro Loluene for synthesis of p - amino benzaldehyde and Sandmeyer reaction. The total yield was over 64%. Various factors affecting the yields of paminobenzaldehyde and p - chlorobenzaldehyde have been studied. In this new synthetic route,the yield is high, the quality of product is good and the operations are simple.
