Both evaluation of periodicals by scholars and evaluation of periodicals by citation indexes have their own advantages and limitations. The author compares recent evaluations of periodicals in history by history scholars and by CSSCI citation indexes, and finds that they have certain correlation elements and different evaluation methodologies and results. The evaluation by citation indexes can be used by scholars as a reference tool.
