With oil import increasing and development of the sea transportation year by year, the accidents of spilled oils take place frequently, which made the pollution of coastal waters more and more serious. In this paper, the background and state of spilled oil pollution in Chinese coastal waters at the beginning of this century are described. The marine ecological damage of spilled oil is also discussed in detail. Some steps and strategies on preventing and controlling the oil pollution at present and in the future are put forward.
