This paper introduced the measurement principle and technical feature of three dimensional laser scanning technologys,with the focus on the application of the technology in forestry at home and abroad as well as its shortcomings and prospects.The study found that,compared with the traditional forest research tools,the 3D laser scanning technology has a greater advantage in terms of the efficiency in tree measurement,reconstruction of 3D model and modeling precision.All these advantages show a great prospect in the research and application of this technology.
