As a new way of cultivating students'research ability, research has become an important part of undergraduate education in research-intensive universities in the United States. As a successful educational practice, undergraduate research emphasizes the subjectivity of learners,the situated construction of knowledge and the culture adaptability of learning, all of which complies with the practice-oriented purpose of situated cognition and learning theory. Therefore, from the perspective of situated cognition and learning theory, an analysis of the value appeal in undergraduate research of American research universities will enable us to realize the nature and importance of undergraduate research, thereby providing valuable reference for the development of research creativity of undergraduates in China's research-intensive universities.
