在晋中冀西晚古生代太原组中段普遍发育有一层火山事件层。通过岩石学、岩石化学特征和数学聚类分析，证明研究区的火山事件层是同源同期的火山喷发产物，并依此对地层进行了初步对比。
A volcanic event layer in the Middle Taiyuan Formation of Late Palaeozoic is widely distributed in the central Shanxi and western Hebei.The petrological,geochemical and mathematical analyses indicate that the volcanic event layer in the study area is of the same origin and eruptive period.Based on this layer,the stratigraphic correlation is done tentatively.
