由美国几所大学信息学院创立的iSchool年会已举办6届,会员单位有27家,由于其影响力的逐年扩大,业界人士以iSchool运动/联盟冠称。iSchool的发起者旨在形成一个学科联盟,拓宽图书馆学情报学的研究领域,发现和探索一些新的研究领域,即在计算机技术、网络技术、通讯技术等现代信息技术环境下,采用跨学科研究方法,探索和发现信息、技术、人三者之间的关系,从而为行业发展和政府管理提供引领作用。iSchool运动将会对图书馆学情报学的学科发展产生深远影响。
