Modern cataloging is facing many challenges on its functions and forms of organization,which is the great chance for transformation.The evolution of cataloging is roughly a progress of function decided by demand and form decided by function.The paper establishes new cataloging function based on patron's need,which is book finding,book reading and knowledge receiving.The three new functions are personalized resource navigation,intelligent text supply,and academic knowledge space.The paper also illustrates the future cataloging form under the context of library2.0,Web3.0,service-oriented architecture and cloud computing.
