The western flower thrips, Frankliniella occidentalis, is one of the most dangerous pests around the world. In the mainland of China, this pest was firstly reported in Beijing in 2003. The thrips collected from the vegetables in Lhasa City and Duilongdeqing County were identified as F. occidentalis (Pergande) by morphological and molecular methods. It was the first report that F. occidentalis occurred in Tibet.
