In this study, two additives of Na2Cr2O7and NaClO4were used and thermogravimetric differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DSC) was employed to study the combustion characteristics of coal in cement kiln. The ignition temperature, the burnout temperature, the burning intensity, the average heat liberation intensity and the calorific value were selected as evaluating indicators. The results indicate that the two additives used in the experiment are able to change the combustion characteristics of coal in cement kiln. The ignition temperature and the burnout temperature of coal are reduced with the addition of the two additives, which helps the combustion at a lower temperature and increases the coal flammability and burnout. At the same time, the additives reduce the burning intensity, make the combustion process steadier, and benefit the burning of coal in the cement kiln. Both Na2Cr2O7and NaClO4increase the calorific value of coal, accelerate the heat release, and promote coal combustion.
