To investigate the plant species and ethnic medicinal applications of the commonly used Leguminosae and Saxifragaceae medicines of Tujia Ethnic Group in Hubei province, interview of Tujia doctors, field investigation, specimen identification, and literature analysis were conducted and the results revealed that among the 18 commonly used plant drugs there were 13 Leguminosae and 5 Saxifragaceae medicines. Some medicinal practices of 14 of the plants had not been recorded in domestic pharmaceutical monograph. The results provided valuable information for further research and utilization of these resources.
