From a designer′s point of view, it analyzes the furniture design participation behavior of Ming Dynasty′s literati and its important role in the formation of the Ming Dynasty furniture style. The study firstly explains the characteristics of Ming-style furniture and their formation background, and then explores the significant impact of literati''s participation in furniture design on its style formation combined with typical design cases from multiple perspectives,like common features and individual design preferences according to Ming Dynasty people′s living conditions, aesthetic ideas, culture attainment and spiritual pursuit. The results not only can help to understand the characteristics of the Ming-style furniture, but also provide an important reference for the study of modern Chinese furniture design.
