This paper addresses the characteristic and performance metric of job scheduling for grid computing, reviews existing job scheduling technologies and algorithms including heuristic job scheduling, Agent-based job scheduling, modeling and analysis using Petri net, cost-based job scheduling and load balancing, and finally makes an expectation about its future research directions.
